Pavillon Nicolas Ruinart

A NEW ARCHITCURAL PROJECT

The Nicolas Ruinart Pavilion, the result of a collaboration between architects Sou Fujimoto, Gwenaël Nicolas, and Christophe Gautrand, stands as a contemporary tribute to the famous chalk cellars of Reims. The building is distinguished by its bold use of local limestone, a key material that echoes Reims' viticultural history while celebrating Champagne's traditions.

The curves of this new building respond to the straight lines of the historic structures. Architect Sou Fujimoto envisioned a space inspired by the fleeting nature of champagne bubbles, sculpted by light: the fourth wall is, in fact, a glass façade that opens onto the courtyard.

The pavilion harmoniously integrates with the existing buildings, engaging in a fruitful dialogue that highlights the modernity of its asymmetric design.

Constructed from Soissons stone and topped with a wooden frame, the Nicolas Ruinart Pavilion reflects the House’s commitment to a more sustainable world. Built using a responsible approach, the natural materials were carefully selected locally to address environmental concerns. Sou Fujimoto’s project meets all criteria for Haute Qualité Environnementale (HQE) architecture.
