Henrique Oliveira’s Carte Blanche project is a freestanding real tree size sculpture. The construction highlights the importance of recycling. While its form evokes branches intertwined like a labyrinth of roots, echoing the underground network of chalk pits in which Ruinart ages its champagne. Inspired by the concept of an inverted vine, the sculpture exposes its roots to the air rather than plunging them underground.

"Like a vine with an inverted structure, my sculpture evokes roots that blend together. The vine plunges into the ground of the Maison's courtyard and down towards the cellars. The sculpture evokes the perpetual cycle of winemaking, which begins anew every year."
