Conversing and connecting with nature has always been essential to the oldest champagne house. For almost three centuries, Ruinart has been listening to and learning from living things. The flora and soil have inspired the Maison’s chardonnay experts who carefully observe and respect them.
The Maison continues its Conversations with Nature art series by inviting artists whose work echo this commitment to share their vision. With the ability to connect us with ourselves and others, to enlighten and transform us, art can carry messages fostering biodiversity to audiences around the world. This year, Franco-Swiss artist Julian Charrière, French artist Lelia Demoisy and American artist Sam Falls join the 2025 cycle of Conversations with Nature.
Born in 1991, Lélia Demoisy lives and works in the Yvelines region near Paris. Her sculptures and installations examine our relationship with nature. Often associated with steel, the tree occupies a fundamental place in her work, which is almost exclusively based on natural materials. Passionate about the plant kingdom and scientific advances that enhance our understanding of it, she aims to share new experiences of and with nature. She has created several monumental permanent and ephemeral installations in the Parc National des Forêts, Parc de la Villette in Paris, Potager du Roi in Versailles and for Annecy Paysages.
Since last year, her sculpture Between Us (Entre Nous, 2024) has been on display at 4 RUE DES CRAYÈRES in Reims. Together with Christophe Gautrand, the garden’s landscape artist, Lélia Demoisy chose two old maples growing on the site and wrapped them with white steel wire, highlighting the invisible connections between them, as well as the idea that an ecosystem is richer and more diverse than the sum of its parts. As a guest artist for Conversations with Nature in 2025, Lélia Demoisy has created a series of artworks echoing the Maison’s commitment to biodiversity.
