THE ARTWORK
Marie Berthouloux has crafted three bespoke pieces using materials derived from the bottling of Ruinart champagne: the aged gold of the headpieces, wire muzzles and cords. Most of these carefully selected elements come from discarded materials.
Like the cuvées made with care and savoir-faire, Marie Berthouloux’s casing pays tribute to the Champagne terroir.
Closely following the contour, the embroidery wraps around the bottle, evoking the rows of vines, gnarled vine stock, jagged edges of chardonnay leaves and other plants bearing witness to the vineyard’s biodiversity.
THE CRAFTWOMAN
Marie Berthouloux is a craftswoman with dual training in Fashion Design and Textile Arts, specialising in metallic embroidery.
She reinvents traditional techniques to bring new dynamism to her creations. Sometimes flat, sometimes in relief, her gold-thread embroidery reveals a wealth of expression and boundless creativity.
To bring this exceptional piece to life, the artist collaborated with complementary savoir-faire. Upholsterer Anaïs Jarnoux, a specialist in sheathing, designed a custom-made textile support designed to fit the bottle and host the embroidery. Finally, to showcase the whole piece, a wicker sheath was crafted by basket weaver Marie Drouet.
Driven by a desire to promote circular creativity, the Maison created the Ruinart Studio program in 2021, inviting young talents to imagine beautiful and meaningful creations using repurposed materials from Ruinart’s operations.
Launched in 2021, Ruinart Studio reflects the Maison’s commitment to responsible creation. This artistic program invites emerging talents to explore new forms of expression using materials derived from the elaboration of its cuvées. Glass, paper, wood, cork, and wire become sources of inspiration for imagining unique pieces — at the crossroads of craftsmanship and circular design. A dialogue between innovation and savoir-faire, where creativity unfolds through an engaged and poetic approach.
