THE MAISON CELLARS

The Ruinart chalk cellars reveal the history and know-how of the Maison. This labyrinth of 8 kilometers houses the Maison's bottles and surprises visitors with its quietness and immensity. This site is the only one in the city of Reims listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and classified as a historic site.

These old chalk quarries, dug out in the 5th century for the construction of houses, embody the Champagne region. Ruinart was a pioneer in setting up its wine cellars in the 18th century. The twenty pits of the Maison are spread over two levels, at a depth of nearly 40 meters. Thanks to their ideal conditions of humidity, temperature and luminosity, they are perfect for aging Ruinart wines.
