During the international contemporary art fair Frieze LA, Maison Ruinart unveils Glass House, an artwork created by the artist Aiu Servan-Schreiber to encourage the collect and recycling of glass bottles.
The artwork created by David Aiu Servan-Schreiber evoques the historic cellars of Maison Ruinart in Reims, known as “Crayères” (chalk cellars). A wooden container covered by a chalk-like texture is pierced by a round opening where the bottles can be dropped.
The luminous golden interior shines through the circular hole as reminder of our planet and the treasures it offers.
It contrasts with the white exterior of the box and awakens us on our potential as an individual of preserving our environment.
The artist chooses the gold leaf as a medium because it is one of the greatest wonders created without human intervention.
