Ruinart X Frieze Los Angeles

Enjoy the work of Suzanne Husky at Frieze Los Angeles and extend your discovery of Maison Ruinart through Food for Art gastronomic experiences

Ruinart by Suzanne Husky

In 2022, Frieze and Maison Ruinart named Suzanne Husky as the artist selected for the third R.U.in.ART commission. Established in 2019 at the inaugural edition of Frieze Los Angeles, the initiative, each year, invites a West Coast artist to realize an immersive experience within the Ruinart Art Bar at the fair.

This year, San Francisco-based artist and eco-activist Suzanne Husky will present a participatory installation titled Dam Beaverly Hills!, spotlighting the integral role that the North American beaver could play in maintaining California’s landscape.

The installation will be activated through live events in which Husky will draw attention to the beaver’s history in California and what the animal can teach us, as well its position as a ‘keystone species’.

Ruinart has pledged a contribution from the sale of every glass of Ruinart champagne at the fair to be donated to the Sonoma County-based Occidental Arts & Ecology Center’s ‘Bring Back the Beaver’ campaign.

Suzanne Husky The artist

Suzanne Husky is an eco-activist artist based in San Francisco. Her work focuses on sustainability and nature, which aligns with Ruinart's commitment to sustainable practices.

Previously, she taught landscape history and ethnobotany in the School of Art and Design Orleans, and Plant Matters at the San Francisco Art Institute.

For the past 20 years, Husky has developed a mixed media creative practice focused on human, plant and earth relations and agroecology. She is represented by Galerie Alain Gutharc Paris. She is a founder of the artistic duo Le Nouveau Ministère de l’Agriculture that creates art work on agribusiness and agtech.
