Hervé Van der Straeten, who studied at the Beaux-Arts, articulates his design as both art and craftsmanship. Whether chandeliers or furniture, these unsurpassed pieces are worked in a constant search for perfection in the finish as well as in the shape of the objects. Fascinated by movement and light, the artist admits that he has devoted his life searching for new shapes and exceptional materials in order to explore the game of contrasts. Bronze, cabinet work and also lacquer are his preferred fields of expression. These exceptional objects are showcased in his Paris gallery, established in the Marais.
In this "Miroir" designed for Ruinart, artist Hervé Van der Straeten was inspired by the infamous table art from the Age of Enlightment, both symbolizing the heritage of the Maison. This silver-plated ice-bucket has been crafted in the Haute-Orfevrerie workshops of the prestigious Maison Christofle.
The "Miroir" ice-bucket, completely crafted by hand, is a limited edition of only fifty pieces. Each piece is numbered and listed in the Grand Livre d’Or of the Maison Christofle, in order to guarantee their subsequent authentification.
